There are lots of Scrabble Clubs around the World. Most of the English Scrabble playing countries generally take part in the World Scrabble Championships (WSC) which is held every 2 years. For more info on the 2009 WSC check out WSC 2009.
Irelands representative this year is Kevin McMahon (pictured below). He is the highest rated Irish player and is just fantastic. He has won the Irish Championships the last 2 years in a row amongst many other titles. His latest accomplishment is getting as far as the quarter finals in the British Elimination Scrabble Tournament - more details can be found at BEST
